Teen’s rapist to rot in jail

QWAQWA – Phuthaditjhaba magistrate court sentenced Jonas Pheello Mokoena (30) to life imprisonment for rape on 23 September 2024 .
His sentencing stemmed from a matter which occurred on 8 January 2021.


Court heard that 17-year-old girl was on her way from church when she met Mokoena who instructed her to go with him at his place where they met an old lady who asked him what is happening with her.


According to police report, Mokoena answered by saying he is going to marry her.


“He raped her for almost three days. She was locked in the house on these few days. On the third day he heard that the police were looking for her, he opened the door for her and she left. Then, she managed to get out of the house and run away. Mokoena was later arrested.”


The case was heard before Phuthaditjhaba regional magistrate Msimaga while Chabangu prosecuted.
