QWAQWA – The Phuthaditjhaba regional court has sentenced Lehlohonolo Mmatli, Sechaba Mokhele, and Siyabonga Miya to 15 years direct imprisonment after they were convicted of killing Napo Molefe, aka Maleven (29) of Mandela Park.

The accused were sentenced on January 21, 2025.

The case emanates from a June 4, 2023 incident when the deceased was stabbed to death with blunt objects by the above mentioned convicts.

Meanwhile in another separate case, the same court has sentenced Falatsi John Mphuthi (68) to a direct jail term of five years for attempted murder of a couple who were on a farm in November 2022.

According to police spokesperson in the Thabo Mofutsanyana district Warrant officer Mmako Mophiring, Mphuthi shot at the couple while driving their car on the road in November 2022.

“The couple were on the farm looking after their livestock when their neighbour, Mphuthi, followed them as they were travelling in a family car. He shot the pair, and they were hospitalized due to their injuries. A case of attempted murder was open and the convict was charged with attempted murder which later led to his sentencing.”
