QWAQWA- The Phuthaditjhaba magistrate court has sentenced a mother of three to three years’ imprisonment for child negligence, which was wholly suspended on December 6, 2024 for five years on condition she is not found guilty of a similar crime.

The case according to Thabo Mofutsanyana district police spokesperson Warrant office Mmako Mophiring emanates from 6 April 2024 when at about 20:00 neighbour was at home when three children aged 10, 6 and 3 arrived at her place asking for a place to sleep.

They further asked her about the whereabouts of their mother, but the complainant didn’t know where she was. She then gave the children food and took them to the police to report the case.

“The children were taken to a place of safety by the investigating officer, while their mother was finally traced and arrested.”
