Lesotho man gets life imprisonment for rape 9-year-old son

LADYBRAND-Magistrate Johan V ZYL has sentenced a 37-year-old Lesotho national to a life imprisonment for rape of his nine-year-old son by Ladybrand magistrate court on April 24,2024.


According to police spokesperson in Thabo Mofutsanyana district , Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring , on November 2021, the man took him to the mountain to dig the muti.


“He asked his son to ‘to give him a little bit’ while raping him .The boy reported the matter to his stepmother but did not want to testify in court . His father was convicted of rape as well for being in country illegally and was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and fine of R3500 for contravening immigration act or six months which will run concurrently with the rape charge.”


Mophiring said the conviction was reached through assistance of Seargeant Olebile from Ladybrand Family and children unit while Advocate Michelle Nel prosecuted the case.
