Assaulted initiate dies in hospital

QWAQWA – Makwane Police in the eastern Free State are investigating a case of murder after a 24-year old man who was admitted at a local hospital died with wounds from initiation school.


According to police spokesperson in Thabo Mofutsanyana district Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring, police were summoned to a local hospital on Thursday, December 7,2023 after admitting a young man with stab wounds on the stomach allegedly from initiation school .
The 24-year old man died there later Mophiring has disclosed in a media statement.


“The motive behind the killing is not yet known. A case of murder is being investigated but no one has been arrested.”
Meanwhile, in another case, a 33-year old man in Marquard is being treated at Senekal hospital after his genitals were cut off.


Mophiring said at around 16hrs the Senekal police were summoned to a local hospital after a male patient from Moemaneng near Marguard was admitted on December 10,2023.


“It is alleged that the incident took place on December 7,2023,at about 22hrs 50 when the uncle noticed his nephew walking into the house bleeding and immediately summoned the ambulance which ferried him to Senekal hospital, but he was later transferred to Bloemfontein.”


According to Mophiring during police preliminary investigations, a house was visited where genitals were found inside a refrigerator and will be taken to forensics for further analysis to confirm whether they are from a human being. A case of attempted murder has been opened.
No arrest has been made and police are seeking assistance.
