POSITION : ASSISTANT CHIEF ACCOUNTANT EXPENDITURE

REMUNERATION: POST LEVEL 3 (THREE) OF GRADE 6 MUNICIPALITY

Salary: 601897,76 per annum

Job Title: Assistant Chief Accountant Expenditure

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Chief Accountant Expenditure to oversee the municipality’s expenditure accounting functions. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely processing of expenditure transactions, as well as compliance with relevant legislation and regulations

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the municipality’s expenditure accounting functions

• Ensure accurate and timely processing f expenditure transactions

• Manage and supervise a team of accountants and accounting clerks

• Develop and implement expenditure accounting policies and procedures

• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations (e.g. MFMA,GRAP)

• Prepare and review financial reports and statements

• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (CA(SA) or equivalent)

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting ,preferably in a municipal environment

• Proven track record of managing expenditure accounting functions

• Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations (e.g. MFMA,GRAP)

• Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills

• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

ADDED ADVANTAGE:

• Registration with a professional body

• Valid driver’s licence (Code 08 (EB))

• NO criminal record

• Computer literacy. A Certificate in Municipal Financial Management Programme (MFMP) as prescribed by National Treasury, Government Gazette no 29967 date 15 June 2007 will be an added advantage.
