QWAQWA – Map16 Civic Movement has poured scorn on suggestions of an association with newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, insisting its executive member Matshepo Mokubung attended a meeting with the party in her personal capacity.

The controversy was triggered by a Facebook picture of Mokubung in the company of MKP national organiser Floyd Shivambu during his visit to Maluti-a-Phofung local municipality where he also met with some party supporters.
Clarifying what has transpired, the convener of Map16 Civic Movement Motloung Paratlane said the utterances on social media platform by Shivambu that MK party is in talks with Map 16 are all lies.

“We only saw this on social media as a party. Up to now we have never had any meeting or discussion with MKP. We refute with contempt any suggestion that Map16 had any meeting with or discussion with MKP.

Map16 Civic Movement Convener Paratlane Motloung.

“The individual seen in the photo – who is executive member – was there in her personal capacity and was not representing Map16 in any capacity. Like many political formations in the country which have seen their members leaving for greener pastures, Map16 is not immune to that vice.
Motloung could not disclose whether any disciplinary proceedings will be instituted against Mokubung.

“We are yet to meet and discuss about this matter.”
Motloung acknowledge that his party is aware that it may lose some members to other political parties.
