KESTELL – In the spirit of commemorating women’s month, the Kestell Golf club handed over a donation of two thousand five hundred rand to the Kestell old age home along with some cupcakes for the patrons at the home from councilor Bea Campbell – Cloete.
Ampie Kemp the chairperson of the Kestell Golf Club handed over monies collected from a potjiekos food drive that was held at the Kestell Golf Club to help collect money that will help the community. “This year the board of the Kestell Golf Club decided to split the funds collected and give first to the Kestell cleanup campaign and today we are here to hand over a donation of two thousand five hundred rand to the Kestell old age home,” Campbell – Cloete said.
Dennise Jonker received the donation on behalf of the home and this is what she had to say when speaking to The Guard; “We are very grateful to be receiving this donation; it is very encouraging to be getting support from the Kestell Golf Club. I have only been here as the facility manager since 2020 and it has been a blessing to get all types to support from the community. Moses Moloi and his team from the Kestell cleanup campaign came to help us paint some of the walls in the facility and today we are receiving this wonderful donation from the golf club,” Jonker said.
Huis Kosmos old age home has nineteen patrons living there of which fourteen of them are old ladies and five old men. The money that has been donated is going to be used towards the refurbishment of the dining room. “Our dining room has received a fresh new coat of paint and now this money is going to help us buy brand new curtains that the room so desperately needs,” Roselina Shabalala a staff member who has been working at the facility for 40 years said.
