QWAQWA- Keletso Mofokeng of QwaQwa has put the eastern Free State on the map when she scooped second princess prize at the Miss Plus South Africa beauty pageant that was held in Bloemfontein earlier this month.

Mofokeng – a student at the Bonamelo campus of Maluti Technical Vocation Education and Training College in QwaQwa – was one of the 12 finalists and competed in three sessions after she received a vote for second princess.

Commenting on her exploits, Mofokeng said when her name was announced as second princess, she was enthralled to have made Thabo Mofutsanyana distrct proud, which showed that rural girls full figured bodies also had what it takes to make it in the beauty industry.

“I felt happy, not for me but for those girls with a big bodies like me; I have proven to them that they too can be represented. I’m also happy my region has been counted and will always be remembered for making history,” said Mofokeng in an interview with The Guard last Saturday.

She said there were hundreds of girls competing for the Miss Plus crown who were picked from all provinces. They were then pruned to 25 and later 12 who made the finals.

Mofokeng’s prize included a full body massage voucher and a hamper of Mijona beauty products. Limpopo ‘s Preshy Shibamvu (first princess) won a weekend getaway at a five star hotel in South Africa and a hamper of Mijona products.

The winner of Miss Plus South Africa, Murunwa Mphigalale won R4000, a hamper of Mijona products and a trip to Atlanta in the United States of America. She will also get to represent South Africa at the Miss Plus World pageant in 2019.
