Ex-cop killed in mob justice

QWAQWA – Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of a 58-year old famous labour unionist and former police officer Dikotsi Jonas Thateng.


The four suspects are part of a mob justice members that murdered Thateng, famously known as DJ, in retaliation for fatally shooting two women in Leribe village on Saturday March 2,2024.


This publication has been reliably informed by a close relative that the murdered former police is Thateng.
According to Police spokesperson in Thabo Mofutsanyana district, Thateng allegedly killed two women – his sister-in-law and his wife’s aunt while also injuring their 94-year old grandmother on the shoulder.


“He was later attacked by some members of the community who assaulted him to death. His private firearm went missing in the process and has not yet been recovered. It is believed to have been the weapon used to commit the crimes.”

Thateng allegedly murdered the two women accusing them of hiding his wife.


Mophiring said the four suspects were arrested on March 4, 2024, by Tseki police and are expected to appear before court on Wednesday March 6,2024.
