QWAQWA – Festive cheer turned into history for the Elite community after Elite All Stars’ senior team claimed their first-ever trophy, edging Beruit 4–3 in a thrilling final of the SAPS Sector 4 Sports Against Crime Tournament.

The tournament, an open league for under-30 players, was held at the Tshiya Resource Centre on 20 December and was organized by SAPS Sector 4 as part of its crime-prevention and youth-development programme.

Five teams took part, including Beruit, Bluegumbosch, SAPS, SANDF and hosts Elite All Stars.

Elite All Stars displayed grit and consistency throughout the competition, overcoming tough opposition to book their place in the final.

In a tense, end-to-end showdown against Beruit, the hosts held their nerve, with captain Kamohelo “Walaza” Mofokeng delivering a match-winning performance by scoring two crucial goals.

Head coach Letlaka Mphuthi hailed the victory as a landmark moment for the club.

“We are extremely proud of the boys. The tournament was well organized, and the team executed the game plan prepared by myself and co-coach Paki Mopeli perfectly. Winning our first trophy is something very special for us,” Mphuthi said.

Co-coach Paki Mopeli praised the team’s discipline and unity.

“The players listened, trusted the process and believed in themselves. This win proves what can be achieved when we work together and stay focused,” Mopeli said.

Captain and goal scorer Mofokeng said the triumph belonged to the entire community.

“This victory means everything to us. We fought hard and never gave up. This trophy is for our supporters and everyone who believes in Elite All Stars,” he said.

The win marks a major milestone for Elite All Stars, boosting confidence and laying a strong foundation for future competitions. It also underlines the role of sport in keeping young people active, disciplined and away from crime.

With their maiden trophy now secured, Elite All Stars will be eager to build on this momentum and continue flying the flag for their community.
