BETHLEHEM – SAFA Thabo Mofutsanyana Regional President Elizabeth De Koker has been re-elected to the South African Football Association (SAFA) National Executive Committee (NEC), securing a second term in the national football governing body.
The re-election follows SAFA’s presidential elections held in Midrand, Johannesburg, on 12 September, where incumbent SAFA president Dr Danny Jordaan was re-elected with 152 votes against 82 votes for his opponent.
De Koker, who first took office at regional level in 2018, is now serving her third term as president of the SAFA Thabo Mofutsanyana Region and has subsequently continued to serve at national level.
“Thank you to everyone who supported me, believed in me and entrusted me with another term as an NEC member,” said De Koker.
De Koker has also built a profile in women’s football and has been involved in initiatives aimed at developing women’s participation in the sport.
Since 2021, she has served as head of delegation for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, while also continuing her leadership role in the Thabo Mofutsanyana region.
The regional president is also preparing to host a Top 8 tournament featuring eight of the best-performing teams from last season’s regional league.
“I am deeply grateful and the work continues to build a better nation and drive football development forward,” she said.
De Koker has also pursued coaching development, including CAF coaching licences, and has hosted events aimed at bringing women involved in football together and recognising their contribution to the sport.
“We are not visitors in the game, we are its future,” she said.
