Nakedi nominated as public service Commissioner

QWAQWA – A Free State legislature ad hoc committee this week nominated Professor Brian Itumeleng Nakedi as the Provincial Public Service Commissioner.
Nakedi’s nomination followed an advertisement for the post in which six out of 21 applicants were recommended.

The chairperson of the Ad-Hoc Committee for nomination of the Public Service Commissioner, Free State Province, Deputy Speaker of the Free State Legislature, Nolitha Ndungane said Nakedi was nominated based on his experience and expertise.
“Due processes followed and recommendations of six candidates out of 21 applications received were shortlisted, arising out of the process that was initiated by the Ad-Hoc Committee towards the end of the 6th Provincial Legislature.

“The newly established Ad-Hoc Committee considered the report and resolved to continue and finalise the process that was halted due to the 2024 National and Provincial elections that were held on May 29 2024. On the 8th of July 2024, the Legislature issued a notice to the media and the public, to announce the re-constitution of the Ad-Hoc Committee for the 7th Provincial Legislature as well as the re-instatement of the process, in line with the Standing Rules and Orders.”
She said on the 14th of August 2024, the Legislature issued another notice to the media and the public, to announce the successful conclusion of the interview process of six shortlisted candidates.

“We also highlighted in the same media report that the next process will include tabling of the report before the House for consideration and adoption. Members of the media and the public can access the interviews from the Free State Legislature’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page for more information.

“The Committee then met on the 8th of July 2024 and adopted a recommendation to be tabled before the House for consideration and adoption in line with the Rules and Orders of the Legislature. It is worth mentioning that the candidates who were interviewed are professionals of high regard and this can be depicted through their performance,” said Ndungane.

She said following this process, the recommendations of the Ad-Hoc Committee were preceded by intense discussions on different preferences by members of the Committee.

“The report will now be officially submitted to the Premier of the Free State Provincial Government, MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae, in line with the provisions of section 196(8) of the Constitution, for further processing.”
