QWAQWA – Independent South African National Civic Organisation (ISANCO) founder and president Bakoena Ramosia has dismissed claims of internal leadership battles and denied reports that a court has removed him from the presidency of the movement.
Ramosia was speaking to The Guard on Thursday, 28 May, following widespread social media reports alleging that he had been stripped of his position and replaced by a new president through a court ruling.
He maintained that ISANCO’s leadership remains intact and focused on preparations for the upcoming local government elections, as well as expanding its political footprint beyond the 14 councillor seats it currently holds in municipalities across the country.
“The publication circulating on social media since 26 May is false and forms part of a deliberate campaign to discredit ISANCO ahead of the elections. I remain the lawful president of ISANCO,” said Ramosia.
He rejected claims that the organisation had been involved in court battles over leadership positions, insisting that no court in South Africa had ruled on the movement’s presidency.
Ramosia further alleged that the individual identified as the organisation’s new leader in the social media posts was a former member from the Eastern Cape who had long been expelled from ISANCO.
He said the organisation remains united and focused on strengthening its support base ahead of the municipal elections.
“We will contest in municipalities where we have established support and continue advancing our vision of a people-centred government that prioritises the needs of communities,” he said.
The comments come amid growing political activity ahead of the local government elections, with parties and civic movements positioning themselves to attract voter support.
