Map youth commemorate Human Rights Day by cleaning towns

QWAQWA  –Youth from  Maluti -A- phofung (MAP) local municipality embarked on town’s cleaning campaign as part  of commemorated   Human Rights Day  under the theme ‘ rights with responsibilities’.

Thabo Khobotle youth coordinator from the MAP local municipality office arranged that the coalition government youth participate in the cleanup campaign; “It is very important that MAP youth work together in solidarity, so much more can be achieved when we work together,” Khobotle said.

Lekgabe Dihlabi who joined the cleaning has this to say  “As Qwakanda  we believe that waste management is a very important part of keeping our environment clean. Through our focus on collecting organic waste we have managed produce compost and start 27 food gardens,” Dihlabi said.  

The community of Kestell was also part of this cleanup campaign that was initiated by Apex Future Solutions a newly established local NPC that is all about promoting and cultivating a culture of youth participation.

Moses Moloi from Kestell had this to say; “Our Tennis court would not have had this much needed cleanup if it was not for this wonderful initiative. I would like to thank the organizers for planning such a wonderful event.”

South Africa marks Human Rights Day  on the 21 March  Sharpeville Massacre in commemoration  of   1960  when apartheid police shot and killed  69 people  against the apartheid government pass’ laws.
