BLOEMFONTEIN-The Free State Department of Health has expressed satisfaction on the progress made in its vaccination plan.
This was disclosed by Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson for Free State Department of Health, saying that the department reported a total of 4220 day vaccinations on 7 June 2021, which means a total number of 74245 vaccinated people in the Free State, while increasing the total number of Electronic Vaccination Data System(EVDS)) registered 60 year olds to 100 014.
“The department is increasing vaccination sites every week while implementing a focused vaccination campaign in targeted communities and target audiences,” said Mvambi. The department is set to achieve the goal of vaccinating 1.9 million people out of 2.9 million. Mvambi explained that the department had also set a target of 288 000 vaccination of elderlies (60 years and above) by the end of July 2021 and he strongly believes this vaccination target can only be achieved if everyone else in the communities plays their part.
According Mvambi all the districts of the Free State are vaccinating and the schedule is as follows.
“From 8 to 11 June 2021, the Mangaung Health District will be vaccinating at AFM Church in Rocklands, Pelonomi Tertiary Hospital, Universitas Academic Hospital and Outdoor Sports Centre in Rocklands, from 08:00 to 16:00.
The Lejweleputswa Health District started vaccination on 9 June and will continue till 10 June at Ferdi Meyer Hall in Welkom, Theunissen Community Hall and Ithabeleng School Hall. On 11 June, Lejweleputswa Health District will be vaccinating at Winburg Hospital, Bronville Hall and Allanridge Community Hall from 08:00 to 16:00.”
In the Xhariep Health District vaccinating is at Matlakekeng clinic in Zastron, Bophelong, Petrusburg and Nelson Mandela clinic in Edenburg. On 10 June vaccination will continue at Matlakeng Clinic in Zastron, Tau Sehularo Clinic in Springfontein, Lutheran Church in Oppermansgronde, Albert Nzula Hospital in Trompsburg and Diamant Hospital in Jagersfontein. On 11 June, the district will be vaccinating at Winnie Mandela Clinic in Rouxville, Tau Sehularo Clinic in Springfontein and Jacobsdal Clinic.
He said , Thabo Mofutsanyana District started vaccinating on 9 June at Mamafubedu hall in Petrus Steyn, Dihlabeng Regional Hospital in Bethlehem, Ficksburg Town hall, Tshiamo B hall, Tsheseng Community Hall, Fateng the Ntsho in Paul Roux, Ezenzeleni Hall in Memel and Senorita Ntlabathi hall in Ladybrand. On 10 and 11 June, the vaccination will continue at Dihlabeng Regional Hospital in Bethlehem, Mahlatswetsa Library in Excelsior, Tshiamo B Hall near Harrismith, Tsheseng Community Hall in QwaQwa, Ntha Hall in Lindley, Fateng tse Ntsho in Paul Roux and Ficksburg Town Hall.
Fezile Dabi began vaccinating on 9 June at Kwakwatsi Municipality Hall in Koppies, Bethel Bible Church in Heilbron, Harry Gwala Multipurpose in Zamdela, Sasolburg, Boitumelo Regional Hospital in Kroonstad and Falesizwe School Hall in Namahadi, Frankfort. On 10 June vaccination is at NG Kerk in Edenville, Master Nakedi Multipurpose in Parys, Harry Gwala Multipurpose in Zamdela, Sasolburg, Boitumelo Regional Hall and Ntswanatsatsi Community Hall in Cornelia. On 11 June vaccination is at Heaven Church in Heilbron, Refengkgotso Community Hall in Deneysville, Boitumelo Regional Hospital and NG Kerk in Frankfort.
“The Department is hopeful that the registered persons over 60 years will come to vaccinate. However, those who could not register for whatever reason, they are welcome to vaccinate at walk-ins, they will be registered on site and vaccinated,” Mvambi concluded.
