BLOEMFONTEIN-The Mr Central South Africa pageant has come out once again in full support of women.

This as women who have made a huge impact fighting for women’s equality were recently celebrated. The Modern-Day Esther event was hosted Saturday, at the Limit Lekker Restaurant.

Founder of Mr Central SA, Theodore Chikuma, better known as Theo King, said by hosting this event they were giving women who are currently changing the world around them, an opportunity to celebrate.

“Celebrating the Modern Day Esther is about honouring every woman and child in the Free State Province the working lady who struggles at her place of work without compromising her duties at home, a housewife who contends with all her problems with a smile on her face, a girl who makes every possible effort to make her parents proud and then also, a female foetus who is waiting to be born and become a part of a community of women,” said King.

The event, which aimed to empower women in the province, had a number of guest speakers such as Free State MEC of Finance, Gadija Brown, Anri Powel from ACE Models, the newly crowned Miss Free State SA as well as Miss Plus International. MEC Brown encouraged women to unite and exchange ideas that can take them to greater heights. She said the days when women were perceived to be housewives are long gone. Now is the time for SA women to advance into leadership positions.

Chikuma said what stood out for him on this day was how many successful women who are all operating independently the city has. “We once again learned that women who support women are more successful. Women on their own have power but through this event once again we learned that collectively they can have a much bigger impact” said Chikuma.

Mr Central South Africa has much more in store this year and plans to crown a new successor for the pageant. They will also be running more male grooming programmes together with community projects. For more, follow Mr Central South Africa on Facebook.
