STATE CHANGES CHARGE TO MURDER

KESTELL – The Farm manager of Middlelpunt small town of Maluti-A-Phofung local municipality, Frikkie van Huysteen (30), who is charged with the murder  of Thokazani Joseph Mdlhuli(28)  of Tlholong near Kestell, will be back in Kestell magistrate court on May 28,2021.

The case was postponed for further investigations.

Van Huysteen  who is out on bail of R500 appeared before  Kestell magistrate court on February 24, where he was informed of new charges against , from attempted murder to murder.

Initially he was charged of attempted  murder but changed to murder after  the death  of Mdlhuli.

According to police spokesperson  Montantsi Makhele this follows an incident  during September, 2020, when the suspect and deceased engaged in a quarrel whilst loading iron pipes at the farm.

The deceased allegedly took an iron pipe and hit his manager who in return discharge his firearm and shot the deceased on the neck  at close range.

The deceased who was rushed to the hospital was discharged the same day though he was unable to walk.

He (deceased) returned to the hospital after his condition worsened and died on January 28,2021. 

When Van Huysteen appeared before Kestell magistrate court on February 24 , he was informed his charges had changed to murder following the death of Mdlhuli.
