QWAQWA – The Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court has once again postponed the high-profile Schedule 6 murder and assault GBH case involving ten accused, including Dikwena Secondary School principal, to 1 October.
The accused – Joseph Nhlapo, Thabiso Donald Mollo, Sello Keletso, Jabulane Borotho, Joseph Thabo Mabe, Malerata Mantwa Mahlatsi, Nthabeleng Leete, Dija Millwa, Lucia Tladi and Mpho Miya – face charges linked to the brutal killing of 27-year-old Mpho Mokoena.
Mokoena’s body was discovered on 16 May near the school premises, covered with blankets in a wheelbarrow. Police allege he was assaulted by a group who suspected him of breaking into the school and stealing food from its feeding scheme. Emergency services declared him dead at the scene.
The ten appeared briefly on Tuesday, 12 August, their second court appearance since being granted R5 000 bail each on 29 May. They last appeared on 7 July.
The matter was postponed to allow for further investigations.
