QWAQWA – Three suspects wanted for a house robbery in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal, were arrested in Namahadi on Wednesday, 11 February.

Free State police confirmed the men, all in their 20s, were tracked down in Sebokeng Village by the Welkom Anti-Gang Unit following intelligence on their whereabouts, assisted by a stolen vehicle tracking device.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said officers found two of the suspects sitting in a white Isuzu bakkie with KZN registration plates. The vehicle had been reported stolen during the Bergville robbery.

“The suspects were tactically approached and arrested. They were found under the influence of alcohol,” said Mophiring.

Police recovered the vehicle keys from one suspect’s pocket.

Further investigation led officers to another house in Sebokeng Village, where a third suspect was arrested.

Police seized suspected stolen property, including branded footwear, replica firearms, cellphones, a laptop, bottles of whisky, number plates and other items believed to have been taken during the robbery.

The suspects are expected to be handed over to Bergville police and will appear in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court.

Free State police management commended the officers, saying crime knows no boundaries.
