QWAQWA – A spirit of unity and competitive pride defined a friendly netball tournament held over the weekend, bringing together local teams in a showcase of talent, discipline, and sportsmanship.
The matches took place at Bluegumbosch Stadium on Saturday, 28 March, where three teams, Ntha Masters from Lindley, FDC, and MalutiTVET College, battled it out in a round-robin format for top honours.
TVET emerged victorious in the final after a commanding 25–15 win over FDC, displaying clinical finishing and strong defensive coordination throughout the match.
FDC showed resilience and determination but struggled to close the gap against a well-organised TVET side.
Tournament organisers highlighted that the initiative was aimed at promoting inclusivity in sport, particularly ensuring that women’s netball also benefits from community-driven competitions where men’s teams often dominate resources and prize incentives.
Despite its friendly status, the tournament delivered high-intensity action, with sharp passing, disciplined formations, and tactical awareness on display across all participating teams.
The event not only strengthened community ties but also reaffirmed the growing momentum of netball development in the QwaQwa region.
