The Bloemfontein born and bred golfer, Ruan Pretorius, has continued to impress in collegiate golf in the USA.

Pretorius, who plays for the top-ranked Point University in West Point, Georgia, has been named as the Appalachian Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for a third time this season.

Pretorius, who is the 7th ranked golfer in America, led the Skyhawks to a third-place finish at the Battle at Primm Golf Tournament in California.

A few years ago, Pretorius gave up his Sunshine Tour card in order to enter the collegiate system in the USA. Due to the fact that Pretorius had already played professional golf, he was not allowed to compete for the university during his freshman year. He worked at a local golf club while studying and practising his game. This brave decision has clearly started paying off.

Pretorius is the son of the former Free State fast bowler, Nico Pretorius.

Pretorius and the Skyhawks will return to action on 12 April as they will be competing in the Roadrunner Invitational in Dalton, Georgia.
