QWAQWA – African Content Movement (ACM) leader Hlaudi Motsoeneng has positioned himself as the only viable solution to the deepening crisis at the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality, promising to resolve long-standing service delivery failures within a year if elected.
Addressing supporters at Makwane Sports Ground during the party’s election campaign, Motsoeneng delivered a blunt message to frustrated residents, urging them to abandon parties he says have repeatedly failed to improve their lives.
“I am the only solution to the challenges facing Maluti-a-Phofung,” he declared. “People must say enough is enough. They are tired of parties that have not made their lives better.”
Motsoeneng took direct aim at both the ANC and MAP16, accusing them of betraying public trust after being voted into power on promises of change.
“The ANC and MAP16 are the same. They have disappointed residents and failed to deliver. Now it is time to give ACM a chance if you want real change,” he said.
Casting himself as a “tried and tested leader,” Motsoeneng pointed to his tenure at the SABC as proof of his ability to drive tangible results, insisting his leadership would bring rapid turnaround.
“I will fix service delivery within one year,” he said. “I am a son of this soil, and I have the best interests of Maluti-a-Phofung at heart.”
He outlined an ambitious plan to tackle collapsing infrastructure and governance failures, targeting critical issues including roads, water, electricity, housing, unemployment, corruption and financial mismanagement.
Motsoeneng further pledged to revive the local economy by attracting investors and reopening shuttered factories to create jobs.
“These challenges need leadership with vision, a clear plan and strong networks,” he said.
“We already have investors ready to come in and reopen closed industries to restore dignity through jobs.”
His remarks come as political contestation intensifies in the municipality, with service delivery failures and instability dominating the election agenda.
