QWAQWA-The African National Congress has read the riot act to its members who have registered to contest the upcoming local government elections under the banner of opposition parties.

This warning was fired by ANC Women’s League deputy president Sefora Ntombela ,who said such members will be fired for sabotaging the ANC.

The party took its election campaign up a gear in different areas of Maluti-A-phofung municipality while assessing organisational strength and challenge.

However, The Guard has seen an Independent Electoral Commission(IEC) list that shows ANC councillors on the lection list of All Unemployment Labour Alliance (AULA).

ANC councilors appearing on this list are Maluti-A-phofung member of mayoral Committee responsible for women and special programmes Tebogo  Degratia Baas,ward councillor Mokete Petrus  Mohai and ward 25 branch deputy secretary Molehe Melehehadi Evonne.

ANCWL leading elections campaign in Qwaqwa Sefora Ntombela.

Ntombela kicked of the campaign trial by conducting door to door alongside the PECWL,ANCYL,SASCO,and ANCWL of Thabo Mofutsanyana district region on Thursday this week at Phuthaditjhaba Freedom Square. She was accompanied by ANCWL chairperson in Thabo Mofutsayana Masetjhaba Lakaje Mosia.

She described ANC members who appeared on the opposition list as sell-outs.

“They have fired themselves from the organisation. We are faced with lots of opportunists who think they are bigger than the organisation and decided to stand independent while they are busy campaigning with us.

“We call on women from all walks of life to go and vote as they the majority as far as the voter registration is concerned. I am confident that ANC will win the elections, ”Ntombela said.

Meanwhile the ANC in the province has suspended its chief whip Vusi Tshabalala as both Members of Legislature (MPL) and member of ANC with immediate effect.

His suspension emanates from allegations of supporting the independent candidates for the coming local government local government elections.

According to a statement issued by ANC Interim Provincial Committee’s (IPC), spokesperson Aupa Khoabane,the province has appointed Thabo Meeko as acting Chief Whip until Tshabalala ‘s matter is resolved.

MMC Tebogo  Degratia Baas could not be respond to the questions sent to her. Councillor Mokete Petrus Moahi denied allegations that his name appeared on the opposition list, stating that he is still a member of African national Congress. 

Another ANC heavy weight , a member of executive committee Sisi Kodwa was also at Bluegumbosch  conducting a door to door in a bit to convince voters to give ANC another chance to rule the troubled  municipality .
