QWAQWA – Relatives of Marabele Mohlomi are demanding answers following the death of the patient who went missing from Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli where he had been admitted, only to be found dead at the government mortuary.
According to the nephew of the deceased Tselane Mokoena, Mohlomi was admitted at Mofumahadi Manapo Moepeli hospital where he was waiting to go under the knife.
Mokoena said her uncle Mohlomi was admitted at Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli hospital on August 12,2024 after he was transferred from Elizabeth Ross where he had spent only four days before he went missing.

“The details surrounding his death are very sketchy and suspicious. He was told to eat anything for five days and he was very weak. When his wife Matebele Rosa Mahlomi went to check him two days following our visit there he found his bed made up and was told he had gone missing. It was not even clear how such a weak person managed to leave the hospital.
“We were later called to identify him at the government mortuary where his wife Rosa identified him. We tried to lodge a case but police said the hospital had already opened a case pertaining to matter and it was being investigated.”
Free State Department of Health Mondli Mvambi said the department is also conducting an investigation into the incident.
“The department is investigating this matter and interacting with the family. We have nothing to disclose at this point until all investigations are completed,” Mvambi said.
