QWAQWA – A group of women from Ikaheng Bomme converged at Phuthadithjaba Multi-purpose hall to offer each other emotional support and to build each other.
This was in cognizance of the fact that many of the pressures in communities cause stress and make coping hard for some women.
When speaking to this publication, Mmasello Majane who is the founder of the organization had this to say; “Ikaheng Bomme is an organization that I started when I realized that a lot of women in my community suffer in silence and don’t have a place to go when it comes to issues of abuse and emotional trauma.
“The aim of the event was for women to get together and offer each other moral support in a safe space among each other, giving hope to each other that ‘You are not alone’.
Mmatiisetso Mojubetswane who is a member of Ikaheng bomme said this event is all about women listening to each other’s problems.
“Sometimes women don’t know who to talk to and where to start when it comes to solving their issues. Some women experience emotional and physical abuse and walk around with these scars. Today we just wanted to create a safe space where women from all walks of life can just come together to talk and de-stress,” Mojubetswane said.
A dance group made up of young girls who call themselves Izimbali Zesiswe entertained the women at the event, and encouraged younger women and girls that abstaining from sexual intercourse as young women is a good choice.
Kekeletso Mosia, the group’s 17-year old choreographer, had this to say, “Young women need to know that it is okay in these times not to engage with boys in a sexual way. Boys can lie to you and waste your time, so it is better to focus on yourself and your studies.”
