QWA QWA- The speaker of the controversial troubled Maluti-A-Phofung local municipality in the Eastern Free State MandleNkosi Dlamini has vividly told members of the council to come to terms that the municipal manager is in charge of the municipality water entity MAP water.

This follows a point of clarity raised by EFF councillor Chikota Mkhwanazi during an ordinary sitting at the council chambers in QwaQwa on Monday 31 March, on why there is no item on the agenda about MAP water.

Mkhwanazi was seeking a detailed report of the entity and status of the CEO.

“The must be an item to discuss a way forward on the issue of the CEO at Map water, as it can not be that MAP water is running operating without a CEO. Map water crisis is long overdue and problems there is causing serious service delivery problems to our communities left suffering,” said Mkhwanazi.

On the other hand council speaker Dlamini spoke without hesitation that no one else but municipal manager Advocate Motsoae Mofokeng is in charge of the entity.

Dlamini said the decision was informed by the council resolution to suspend the CEO as it was clear that the was a failure by the then CEO to control the workforce, maintain order and daily running of the day.

Maluti-a-Phofung local municipality Municipal Manager Advocate Mzwakhe Motsoahae Mofokeng during council sitting.

“As the council we took a sober decision that no one else but the MM will be in charge and run the entity without appointing no one to act there finish and klaar,”said Dlamini.

He said the only item to be discussed regarding Map water in this council is the status on how far is the progress on the re-establisment of the entity.

“As council we agreed on re establishing MAP water, we never agreed to appointing interim board or interim acting CEO so we will never go against this council resolution. MM will continue being in charge there,” he said.
