QWAQWA – The Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court has transferred a Schedule 6 murder case involving the Dikwena Secondary School principal and nine co-accused to the regional court for further prosecution.

The group of ten appeared briefly on Thursday, 20 November 2025. All are currently out on R5 000 bail each.

The accused — Joseph Nhlapo, Thabiso Donald Mollo, Sello Keletso, Jabulane Borotho, Joseph Thabo Mabe, Malerata Mantwa Mahlatsi, Nthabeleng Leete, Dija Millwa, Lucia Tladi and Mpho Miya — are charged with the gruesome murder of 27-year old Mpho Mokoena, whose body was discovered on 16 May 2025.

Mokoena was allegedly assaulted by the group after he was suspected of breaking into Dikwena Secondary School and stealing food from the school feeding scheme.

Police confirmed that Mokoena’s body was found covered with blankets in a wheelbarrow near the school. Emergency medical services declared him dead at the scene.

The case has been postponed to 26 November 2025, when the accused are expected to appear before the Phuthaditjhaba Regional Court.
