Manapo wins wellness sports contest

QWAQWA – Sedibeng district health, MAP Water, Maluti–a–Phofung (MAP) local municipality, United Army and Manapo hospital employees took part in an employee wellness sports event at the Phuthaditjhaba stadium.


The event was meant to help the employees de-stress through sports, especially soccer.
The first fixture saw Manapo Hospital locking horns with Sedibeng district health with Manapo hospital winning 2 – 0. In the second match, MAP Water lost out to MAP local municipality on penalties to proceed to the fourth game.


The first semifinal pitted Sedibeng district health against United Army; in the end United Army won on penalties to proceed to the finals.


The second semifinal saw Manapo hospital defeating MAP municipality on penalties after a 2-all draw.
In the final played on October 19 Manapo hospital triumphed 3-2 over United Army to be crowned champions. The teams won gold and silver medals, respectively, with the champions winning a trophy as well.


The organiser of the event, Mokete Mofokeng, congratulated Manapo hospital for being crowned the first winners of the Phoka M foundation’s employee wellness sports event.

“The reason I organized this event is because people face a lot of stress in the workplace, and this is a way of getting them to de-stress – by playing sports. I would like to thank everyone who participated for their support,” Mofokeng said.
