QWAQWA- The Tseki magistrate court is expected to hear bail application of a 63-year-old reverend from Paballong village who is facing a charge of raping an eight-year-old girl.

The application is expected to be heard on 24 November 2025 following his brief first appearance on Monday 17 November.

The accused from the same village as the victim was arrested over the weekend , following the alleged rape of the young girl.

The police confirmed that the incident was reported to them days after the alleged crime had been committed, by the victim’s mother.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the mother was also alerted to the incident by the victim school teacher.

It’s alleged that on 11 Tuesday November 2025 at about 16:00, the mother of the young girl was shocked to learn from teachers of her daughter that she was allegedly sexually violated by a local ‘Reverend.’

Mophiring said the victim informed her friends what happened, and they told the teacher about the incident.

“It is further alleged that it’s not the first time the suspect violated the child but the second time,” Mophiring said.
