QWAQWA – The president of Economic Freedom Fighters says Maluti-a-Phofung is key to winning the Free State province, therefore the winning hearts of voters here is crucial.
Malema said this during an election campaign in the rural village of Bolata in Qwaqwa on May 10.

“Among the areas that were selected for campaign in Free State Qwaqwa was not there. But I demanded to come here because I know the significance of Maluti-a-Phofng in the Free State politics.
If you win Maluti-a-Phofung, you have won the Free State province. This is a big voting constituency of Free State, so we must never in our planning exclude the people of Qwaqwa.”

He further lashed out at opponents Map16 Civic Movement and Maluti-a-Phofung executive mayor Masetjhaba Lakaje Mosia.

“There is a break away party from ANC here called Map16 that organized a march to counteract our event, but they are marching alone, no community members are with them because they are all here.
I think even Masetjhaba is in trouble because she has lied to Ramaphosa when she said Maluti-a-Phofung belongs to ANC. ANC has disrespected us by giving us a mayor who cannot read and write.”

Malema went on to pinpoint the ANC government failures while outlining how he will bring changes that will accelerate service delivery and better residents’ lives.

“You must have clean water here in Qwaqwa 24/7. There will be no water because they fail to ensure electricity supply; water cannot be pumped without electricity. EFF will make sure you have electricity and not loadshedding; every household must have electricity. If they say they are unable to do that, you must ask them why Eskom is selling electricity to Lesotho, Botswana Zimbabwe, Swaziland while there are people without electricity here in South Africa.”

Malema also promised to end loadshedding saying he will use the same way that it was stopped during the rugby world cup.

EFF president Julius Malema addressing supporters at Bolata village in Qwaqwa.

“Even when EFF wanted to make a shutdown it was not there, so I will do exactly that. Today we are going to elections and suddenly there is no loadshedding. Loadshedding will be back after we have voted on May 29, 2024. We must not be misled. They will take us straight to stage 8 on May 30. That is why we must take them out on May 29, 2024.”
Malema also promised voters jobs.

“Fighters, we want you to be employed. Jobs must not be got because of your surname: when you are not a relative of Masetjhaba or not an ANC member you will not be employed. If you are a woman, they want to sleep with you before they can employ you.”
