QWAQWA – ANC deputy president Paul Mashatile kicked off his door-to-door campaign in Maluti-A-Phofung local municipality’s community on March 23 by reassuring the people of QwaQwa that he had heard all their challenges and grievances, and even experienced them first hand.

Mashatile met residents who expressed their desire to see the unemployment rate drop through the efforts of government, by creating job opportunities for everyone who is still eligible, not just for the youth.

“I met an old man who said to me he worked in Sasol for many years until he reached retirement age and got his pension. He said more than anything, he would like to see this happen for everyone. The president has given me the task of being on a committee called Human Resource Development Council which is focusing on the challenge of skills particularly for the youth.

“Young people must be employable. We are not saying that we will create job opportunities for young people only, but for all the people who are not of pension age. We ask the people of this community to give us the power to do more by voting for us. Together we can do more,” Mashatile said while addressing a group of ANC members in Phuthaditjhaba.

Community member and youth development leader Nthabiseng Moloi said they want leaders that serve the electorate, not people who will be there for self-interest and fighting for positions.

Deputy president Paul Mashatile listening to ward 29 residents complaints during his door to door campaign in Qwaqwa.

“I work with the youth, and I am a resident of ward 35, home to mayor Masetjhaba who is our hard-working leader. After today I am going to go back to my community and encourage everyone to vote for the ANC,” Moloi told this publication.

Nthabiseng Mofokeng also from ward 35 shared the same sentiments, adding that she is going to get to work as a volunteer to encourage people to vote for the ANC.
In his closing remarks Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality (TMDM) council speaker and ANC regional chairperson Thabo Mokoena said they were looking forward to a decisive victory for the ANC on May 29 2024.

“I’d like to commend our supporters for coming out to support the African National Congress and I urge everyone to go out and encourage others to vote, because we want to win decisively. To do that, we need to go into the community of Maluti – a – Phofung and encourage everyone to use their vote wisely and vote for the ANC,” Mokoena said.
