QWAQWA – Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality (TMDM) speaker Thabo Mokoena says appending one’s signature to a document is not something to be taken lightly, but is a binding commitment.
Mokoena, said this in a keynote address to motivate the matric class of 2023 at the pledge signing ceremony held at Tsebo Secondary School last week.

The matric pledge is a commitment that candidates sign as a promise to follow exam rules and report any cheating if they see any.

“You have signed a pledge. Do not undermine anything in life where you attach your signature to it.
“Anything in life where you attach your signature, should be binding to your conscious and this should not be something to play with. When you signed the pledge, you made a commitment to say that you will play by the rules,” Mokoena said.

At the same occasion, district director Lindiwe Mabaso encouraged the matric learners to start with the finish line in mind.
Mabaso said that everyone gathered at the ceremony was proud of them for reaching their grade 12 and were there to motivate them to work towards being victorious by passing their matric with flying colours.
A Tsebo Secondary School alumnus Gideon Lekhotla was on hand to offer words of encouragement to the learners on the cups of the matric end-of-year exams.

“Hard work beats talent when talent is not working hard, and hard work is the cornerstone before you can say that you work smart.”

In an interview with The Guard, Bohlokoa Mofutsanyane and Kutlwano Mashiloane said they were inspired and felt motivated by all the speakers who addressed them on the stage.

“I hope their motivational words will help those who are still striving to work hard, but as for me I am truly inspired and working hard to succeed in my matric exams,” Mashiloane said.

Among the guests was the Chief Education Specialist for the Provincial Exams and Assessment Molefi Lebajoa.
