QWAQWA – Residents of Ha Sethunya village braved the rainy weather and came out in numbers to attend a service delivery imbizo that was organised by the Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality (TMDM) alongside members of the Mopeli royal household and the local municipality councillors.

“When I heard the hailing from the loudspeaker yesterday, I decided to come to this imbizo today because I wanted to access some of the services like the department of labour for opportunities such as internships.

” Unfortunately, the department of labour is not here but I am happy to see the executive mayor Mme Conny Msibi,” Majabavu Nhlapo said when speaking to The Guard.

Learners from Mampoi Senior Secondary School (SSS) also attended the imbizo so that they could apply for their smart cards.

“I am here today because I have been going to home affairs many times trying in vain to apply for my smart ID card, so I hope today I can be assisted because I am 16 years old and in grade 10 and I don’t want to struggle with this when I pass and make my way to grade 12,” said Thulisile Mokoena.

Tshepo Mofokeng who comes from Kestell and lives at the school’s hostel, said he had encountered a simar problem, that is why he is here.

In her address to the community, TMDM executive mayor Conny Msibi said in their quest to improve service delivery for the community of Ha Sethunya and other local municipalities in Thabo Mofutsanyana, they have made a decision to work hand in hand with the royal household in the area because the community has a lot of respect for the royal family and the chiefs in the villages know what the community needs in terms of service delivery.

“Our work as a district is to link the different departments of government so that we can be able to offer adequate services to our people. That is why we are here today with different stakeholders,” she said.

Mofumahadi Mamofedi Mopeli was at the Imbizo accompanied by other members of the royal household.
