QWAQWA – The Free State department of sport, art, culture and recreation has been raided by the Hawks which seized documents for a suspected unlawful tender awarded to Bloemfontein company C-squared.

Free State Hawks spokesperson Christopher Sinqo confirmed that on Tuesday November, 15 2022, a search and seize operation was conducted by the Bloemfontein Serious Crime Prevention Investigation unit based on the information received of an irregular tender awarded to a certain company for Macufe.

This after the department of sport, arts, culture and recreation continued with the Mangaung African culture and Festival despite the court having set aside the awarding of the tender to events management company C-squared.
The high court had ruled that the decision by the Free State Sport, art, culture and recreation to award the tender to C-Squared the to organize festival event was unlawful.

The department appealed the ruling but failed to have it overturned.
