QwaQwa – With the winter kicking in, a Good Samaritan in the form of David Mmolaoa has donated 40 pairs of schools shoes to a local special needs school to help them beat the hostile cold that is synonymous with the season.

Thiboloha is a special school which caters for children from all nine provinces of the country.

Lerato Mofokeng, a learner from Odendaalsrus the oldest mining town in the Lejweleputswa District municipality, who stays at the school hostel, was beaming with joy at the donation.

“I am very happy that our school has received this donation; all the children who don’t have proper school shoes will have a pair of new ones.”

The schools’ acting principal Mamatjele Mofokeng, was equally full of gratitude for this gesture of kindness.

“Thiboloha is a special school where most of the learners are orphans. It is my duty to make sure that all the learners are well taken care of. When we receive this kind of assistance from the community it makes it easy for the school to serve our vulnerable learners,” Mofokeng said.

One of the teachers at the school, Malimakatso Sefotha, described the gesture of kindness as an indication that the community does indeed care about children with special needs.

“We are grateful to David Molaoa for his generosity and kindness,” Sefotha said.

David Molaoa and his friend Tello Mei joined hands and took money out of their own pockets to donate the 40 pairs of school shoes to Thiboloha.
