QWAQWA – Dikwankwetla Party of South Africa (DPSA) Cllr Bridget Lebesa is upbeat about her new role as Maluti-a-phofung Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Local Economic Development (LED).

Lebesa replaced AULA-Cllr Lebohang Rapuleng who exited the coalition government earlier this week.

Lebesa joins the likes of AIC Harry Mdakane, ATM Ellen Mofokeng and seven MAP16 MMC’s in Mokotso’s executive committee.

She thanked the executive mayor for the trust he has shown in her.

“The immediate task for my department is rebuilding the municipality’s local economy and supporting SMME’s in the municipality,” Lebesa told The Guard.

For his part, Mokotso congratulated Lebesa in her new role and thanked Rapuleng for his contribution while serving as an MMC.

He went on to tale a swipe at Rapuleng’s claims about his administration, that he made in the media on Monday.

He pointed out that Rapuleng was tipped for immediate dismissal anyway, due to his allegations that the Map16-led coalition was corruption.

Welcoming newly appointed LED Executive Mayor Gilbert Mokotso and Bridget Lebesa.

“Cllr Rapuleng did not submit a resignation letter to my office. We only saw on social media that he had resigned due to high levels of corruption in the coalition. He also claimed our administration was worse than that led by the ANC.”

Mokotso stated that the coalition government was determined to maintain its relationship with its partners, despite the withdrawal of the two parties. This after SARKO’s Napo Letlaka announced party’s withdrawal from the coalition government.
