QWAQWA – THE President of Dikwankwetla Party of South Africa Moeketsi Lebesa says the party has not entered into any pact with any political party vying for the Maluti-a-Phofung local municipality ahead of the November 1 local government elections.

However, he did not rule out the possibility of forming a coalition after the elections.

Lebesa said this in a television interview during his monitoring of voter registration in Ward 27 on Saturday.

Drumming up support from eligible voters, Maluti-a-Phofung local municipality Speaker Tumelo Thebe pointed to the progress made in addressing service delivery.

“One will remember that prior to being placed under administration the council was in disarray and council was not sitting. Our municipality has enormously improved since we have moved out of administration and these are the reasons that we are saying residents of Maluti-a-Phofung must retain the ANC.

“One of the role of the administrators was to appoint the municipal manager (MM) and chief financial officer (CEO). Since the arrival of the two, our municipality has seen stability in terms of our finances. We were able to submit our financial statements that were never been submitted during the previous years.”

On the issue of chronic water shortage and power outages and the debt that the municipality owes to Eskom, Thebe had this to say: “We have been complying with the demands of power utility Eskom.”
