FS TO HOST NEDBANK CUP FINAL

BLOEMFONTEIN- Premier league acting Chief Excutive Officer who is also   chairperson of   Lamontville Golden Arrows Mato Madla has expressed satisfaction on the capability of the Free stadium to host historic cups.

Madlala said this while announcing that  Free State stadium will host Ned Bank cup  final  on May 08,2021, when Tshakhuma will be facing Chippa United.

Tshakuma stunned favourites Mamelodi Sundowns in a penalty shootout of 6-5 in the semi-finals on Sunday, while Chippa United beat second-tier Pretoria Callies on Saturday.

“The stadium has hosted most historic football events in the country such as the 1996,Africa cup of Nations, a tournament that lives long in the memory of every South African as bafana Bafana lifted the trophy.”

This will be the  first time in the history  that Free State thereby  becoming  the 10th venue to host the tournament finale in the past 13 years.

 “We are pleased to announce the Free State Stadium as the venue for the 2021 edition of the Nedbank Cup. This season’s competition has already proven to be thrilling and entertaining so far and we expect much of the same in the final.”

He further thanked  partners‚ Nedbank, for their continued support. “We  would  also like to thank the different stakeholders for their participation and co-operation in this process.”

Khensani Nobanda‚ group executive for marketing and corporate affairs at Nedbank‚ said the choice of the venue is in line with their commitment to ensure that the excitement of the Nedbank Cup is accessible to all parts of the country.
