BLOEMFONTEIN – Siwelele FC kept the football spirit alive in Bloemfontein after battling to a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the iconic Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium over the weekend.
Thousands of passionate supporters dressed in the club’s famous green and white colours created a vibrant atmosphere as the return of top-flight football continued to breathe new life into the city.
Free State Sport Confederation president Edward Saunderson and first vice-president Thando Mboxwana were among dignitaries who attended the match in support of the club and football development in the province.
Siwelele produced a disciplined display, absorbing pressure while protecting their slender lead until the final whistle to secure another important result.
The victory further lifted excitement among supporters who have embraced the revival of professional football at Dr. Molemela Stadium.
The Free State Sport Confederation praised both the team and supporters for creating an electric football atmosphere, saying continued backing for local football would strengthen the sport across the province.
Songs, drums and chants echoed throughout the stadium as supporters once again showcased the deep football culture and pride that continues to unite communities across the Free State.
