QWAQWA β MAP16 councillor Gilbert Mokotso has resigned with immediate effect, triggering questions over how his exit was handled.
Party convenor Paratlane Motloung confirmed the resignation, saying Mokotso submitted a letter dated 25 February to council speaker Mandlenkosi Dlamini during the 26 February sitting.
Motloung said the party only received the letter on 10 March β a delay he described as irregular.
βIt is odd the letter reached the party this late. He was expected to submit it internally before sending it to the speaker,β he said.
Mokotso remains a MAP16 member despite stepping down. His resignation takes effect on 25 March, with Mathabo Mosia set to fill the vacant council seat.
Mokotso was unavailable for comment.
