A pair that was traveling from Bergville was arrested by Harrimsith highway patrol members during their operation stop and search on June 27.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele the two suspects were travelling in a red sedan, with GP registration plate numbers on R74 from Bergville, when they were stopped by police at entrance of Sterkfontein dam.

“Police search both suspects and their vehicle. They found a vector parabellum, firearm with one magazine and sixteen rounds in the car. The serial number on the firearm was filed off.”

Makhele said further search led to the discovery of 15 bags of dagga weighing 233.5 kg to an estimation of R200 000.
