QWAQWA-Maluti -A-phofung local municipality Map , has replaced chairperson of Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) Chikota Mkhwanazi with African Content Movement councillor Tumelo Thulo .
Thulo was resumed his new position last Thursday following resignation of EFF ‘s councillor Mkhwanazi with immediate effect.
“As a councillor of EFF I resign from the position of chairperson of Mpac with immediate effect ,” said Mkhwanazi after a letter that his letter of resignation which he handed to the Speaker Manldankosi Dlamini was rejected because it was poorly written and had no signature too.
Dlamini confirmed receiving a letter of resignation but said it was not signed and is poorly written.
“Councillor Chikota Mkhwanazi , I received you resignation letter but is not signed. Can you stand up from where you are sitting and confirm your resignation.”
The motion of vote of no confidence against him fell off and paved the election of a new chairperson.
Thulo was nominated to the position by ANC’s concillor Malefo Moopelwa, while DA’ Oates s nominated Moses Lefuma who got only five votes while African Content Movement ‘s Thulo received 38.
ACM is among small parties in the Map who had assisted ANC to form a coalition government and DA ‘s Oates termed it a thank you form ANC .
Earlier Oates has Oates has raised concern against election of Thulo to the position questioning his suitability as he is inexperienced.

“He has no background of municipal financial function. I am concerned that this municipality is electing him in a favour of his support to their coalition government because of this you are dishing jobs. You must be careful that this municipality does not lose its equitable share or gets dissolved.”
But council single whip Moeketsi Lebesa differed with Oates.
“If he will not disappoint us. Councilor Thulo will be the best chairperson of MPac as compared to the previous ones. He articulates facts and refers to laws.”
