QWAQWA-Bringing a unique and unknown taste to the local fast food fundi. Matheola Molisana,27,is a young man who is making moves in the food truck food business space.

Matt as he is affectionately known by most of his customers, started his venture into the business world while he was a final year student doing a business degree in Bloemfontein. What started as a side hustle, selling burgers from a bakkie with a braai stand alongside a friend; has now become a food truck business called MattFood Bar. A food truck food business that boasts of a menu that brings the unknown to its customers. Gourmet pizza and tacos are some of Matt’s signature meals. Without a doubt we all love fantastic fast-food, Matt has perfected his culinary expertise over the years because he caters to the customer’s unique taste bud needs.

“If my customer wants something meaty yet sweet we prepare that for them,” says Matt. He also says that his intention is to bring something new and unique to the environment that he caters to, for example tacos are originally a Mexican dish; a hand sized flatbread with a meat or vegetable filling.  Matt has made tacos his own and has brought them to the community of QwaQwa.

Mattfood bar officially started as a registered enterprise during the tough times of Covid-19’s lock down regulations…“I wouldn’t say I only know the negative side of this pandemic because I also experienced the good,” says Matt. Starting a business during a difficult economic period has taught Matt how to appreciate everything. His experience over the years is what has led him to this space in the food business. Situated in the heart of Phuthadithjaba at the parking space in front of QwQwa’a old Hall…that everybody knows as “Squareng”. This is where you will find Matt’s food truck every day of the week. Matt also offers free deliveries when customers place an order, his business also has a catering and marketing side to it.

This versatile business man turned chef says that he loves preparing fast-food with a unique taste. So, if you happen to be in the area of Phuthadithjaba and want to experience good food, good people and good vibes be sure to pop by Mattfood bar, to place an order from a menu that is sure to tantalise your taste buds. You will be sure to spot a black food truck with Matt’s team of chefs inside, with Matt also there to take your order, if he is not out delivering orders.
