QWAQWA- African National Congress in Free State has retained both wards that were contested in Lejweleputswa and Maluti-a-Phofung during by elctions held on May 19, 2021.0
The vacant wards were a result of death of both councillors .
The ANC lived up to its promise to empower women when it nominated Mathapelo Mahamutsa as its candidate who garnered 651 votes against Maluti Civic Movement Map16‘s 568. Economic Freedom Fighter came third with 334, Two independent candidates each got 97 and 28 votes and lastly ASSD with only 14 and 29.
In Total ANC retained 27 of 40 wards it contested in May 19 , by elections , it has only lost one ward while winning additional three.
