WARDEN – A collision involving two trucks near Warden in the early hours of wednesday has led to the discovery of 20 abandoned washing machines in an open field.
According to the eastern Free State Warren office Mmako Mophiring, it is alleged that on 25 September 2024 at about 02:00 the two trucks collided next to Ezenzeli Township near Warden, north bound, left lane on the N3. One of the trucks was transporting washing machines were broken open by suspects who were trying to loot the shipment.
He said the Harrismith Public Order Police together with Warden police prevented the looting of the electronic washing machines.
“Upon the arrival of the police the suspects fled the crime scene and scattered in the field. Therefore, Public Order Public and Warden police secured.”

Mophiring said police need any information of any persons who might have been seen in possession of suspected stolen property should contact Crime Stop 08600 10111 or Warden police 082 380 0623.
“Police urge members of the community to stop looting cargo on the roads upon hearing or seeing accidents on the roads, which involves trucks transporting essential goods. The contamination of an active crime scene is also regarded as defeating the ends of justice, which may lead to direct imprisonment.”
