BETHLEHEM – The Thabo Mofutsanyana Department of Education (TMDE), together with Kagiso Trust (KT) officially launched the Coding and Robotics pilot project at Ntsu Secondary School on April 11, 2024.
Several teachers were also awarded at this event.

The launch was also used to award some teachers with certificates for successful completion of an intense South African Council of Educators (SACE) accredited coding and robotics course.
KT donated laptops for learners, laptops for the teacher, and coding and robotics kits per school. The quality of training provided by the coding and robotics course, its approach, and implementation of the pilot project is already paying dividends as Witsieshoek Primary School won at the Provincial Coding and Robotics Competition and Ntsu Secondary School learners won at the National Conference.

KT chief executive officer Mankodi Moitse said: “Today in partnership with the department of education and with our partners who are experts in the field of coding and robotics, we are here to celebrate the teachers who have said, we are here and want to be empowered, we want to be developed so that we can take our learners to the future. Building a sustainable future need embracing new ways of doing things and new knowledge. we really celebrate this opportunity,” Moitse said.

On behalf of TMDE, Zanele Mahlangu said that the department has realized their dream and turned it into a reality through the collaboration and partnership of their partners. “This district is committed to excellence; our learners are easily taught, and our teachers are also engaged in this coding and robotics programme. We couldn’t achieve this dream if it wasn’t for the support of our partners” Mahlangu said.

Teachers and learners who are part of this coding and robotics programme share the sentiment that this opportunity is wonderful and that they are grateful to be part of this group learning about coding and robotics.
