Map establishes water dept

QWAQWA – Maluti-a-Phofung executive mayor Masetjhaba Lakaje-Mosia has her mayoral committee (MMC) which sees the introduction of a water and sanitation portfolio committee.

The new portfolio is headed by African Transformation Movement councillor Ellen Mofokeng.
Lakaje Mosia announced a heavily trimmed cabinet on Thursday last week, with most portfolio committees having been merged.
All positions were shared among smaller political parties that have assisted the ANC to form a coalition government.

“MMC of community service goes to Briget Lebesa but there will still be another portfolio committee, MMC for Public safety is councillor Harry Mdakane another portfolio will be merged while IDP, PMS and Finance is headed by MMC Letlala Napo.”

Lakaje-Mosia promised to have a trimmed cabinet with more portfolio committees to be merged to the already existing ones in a cost cutting move.
Lakaje-Mosia told the council that the Map Water board’s term has expired and members have since been notified and thanked for their services.

“We have already written letters to members of the Map Water board notifying them of the end of their term. The council was supposed to debate this matter, but the item was not submitted on time.”
Other matters discussed included the issue of missing municipal vehicles some of which are said to be at repair shops.

“We are going to recover all municipal vehicles wherever they are even, if we have to use other departments such as the South Africa Police Service to assist us to retrieve them.
