QWAQWA – The ANC reviewed its 2019 manifesto at a meeting held at Phuthaditjhaba multipurpose hall on Saturday, a demonstration that the ruling party was already in electioneering mood.
The event saw ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula gave potential opponents a dressing down in a move aimed at discrediting them.

While acknowledging that the ANC has a bad track record of poor service delivery, Mbalula accused Map 16 Civic Movement whose coalition government has been replaced by ANC with the help of smaller parties, of being just as corrupt.
“Working with other political parties ANC has taken back this municipality. You must be happy but also remember that we lost this municipality because of poor leadership and behaviour. The people of Qwaqwa love ANC and a majority of them vote for it.

“But are our councillors doing what is expected of them? Here in Maluti-a-Phofung there has been corruption for quite some time. That is when Map16 was born as a result of this corruption and they were given an opportunity to govern by the community, unfortunately they turned out to be more the same.”

Mbalula did not mince his words as he blamed his predecessor Ace Magashule for the current poor service delivery to the people of Free State.
Magashule, who has just formed his own party after he was fired by the ANC, has demonstrated that he still has support in the province; some ANC members have since been shown the door after they openly revealed their support for him.

“I am aware you are afraid to mention him by name. Magashule has destroyed everything even here in the ANC. He taught people that when the ANC gives them a chance to serve the community, that is an opportunity to steal. If you steal, we will deal with you.You can ask Magashule,” Mbalula warned.

He further admitted that there was still lot of problems that the municipality is facing, such as the problem of poor water supply, which need to be addressed urgently.

“We have put you into positions of leadership not because you qualify to be there but because we trust you and believe that you will serve your community. We know some for you did not even attend school. We must make sure our roads are roadworthy and the community gets electricity and water. These are things that our people need, not for you to build mansions.
