QWAQWA – Lechabile Business Chamber of Commerce and Industry lived up to its vision to champion the course of businesses in Maluti-a-Phofung by bringing ProductivitySA to the impoverished and disenfranchised community.
ProductivitySA’s vision is to lead and inspire a productive and competitive South Africa.
The event was held at MIYA Innovation Centre at Tshiya College. The business engagement session was facilitated by Mxolisi Coki, a representative for ProductivitySA all the way from Cape Town.
“Our mission at ProductivitySA is to improve productivity by diagnosing, advising, implementing, monitoring and evaluating solutions aimed at improving South Africa’s sustainable growth, development and employment through competitiveness,” Coki said in his introduction of what ProductivitySA is all about.”
Coki highlighted the following themes: what is productivity and profit; defining the business process; the 7 forms of waste and how to achieve operational excellence through the 5S and problem solving.
“When business owners are focused on making improvements to their businesses it is very important to realize that, a bad system will beat a good person every time because 85 percent of the reasons for failure are deficiencies in the systems and processes rather than the employee,” Coki said.
The president of Lechabile, Jordan Nkosi, told the media: “The reason why we decided to bring Productivity SA to this community is because as Lechabile Business Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we realized that many of our business owners need proper training on how to run their businesses. A lot of our members have similar challenges in their businesses because the environment in MAP is very challenging to most businesses; things such as our water and electricity crisis have a very negative impact on businesses.
“Lechabile would like to commit to making sure that more training sessions like this are provided to our business owners so that we improve the business environment of MAP,” Nkosi said.
Dingan Motaung a local business owner said: “Today’s session has given me a lot to think about and I have the confidence to stay ahead of the pack and use the tools that I learned today to implement new growth strategies in my business.”
